WiFi is great when it’s fast and can be accessed from nearby. It’s only downside is that the further you are from the access point does it become harder to rely on WiFi as your speeds drop. I bought this to help with getting internet to my pc that doesn’t have WiFi. It works just like connecting it straight to the modem. Just plug in both to the wall, hold the Connect button on one, then press the button on the other to pair and they’re connected. Then you plug one to your modem, and the other connects to your pc, console or other Ethernet device. This only requires that they are plugged to the wall directly. It won’t work as well or at all if you use a 3-way or surge protector. But I highly recommend this powerline adapter if you need internet at the other end of the house or on the top floors (for example).Read full review

Amazing Upgrade from my old TP-Link AV500 Nano Powerline Adapter Ethernet Starter Kit (TL-PA4010KIT). Huge difference when using this one over my old one. Came a couple days later than the date they said but other than that, the product was worth the wait!

I had very few options for my network situation, and this provided a great temporary solution. They would easily serve as a permanent way to extend a network as well, of course. I happen to live in a small RV parked in a pasture in rural Florida, and I am over 300 feet away from my modem/router, and without direct line-of-sight. I have installed a wireless repeater on top of a 40-foot light pole to provide direct line-of-site, but this only reduced the distance to about 200-feet, which is still insufficient. I bought these with the expectation that I could simply plug in to my repeater on that end, and plug in to my RV on this end. This would not work, however, because it turns out that the electrical circuit I am connected to is independent of the entire rest of the property. Imagine my frustration! (I had already tried running 200 feet of CAT-5e cable, which would have worked fine if my two baby goats did not love to chew it so much before I could bury it) Anyhow, my current setup with the AV1200 adapters is actually surprising - I am running the signal through common electrical extension cords! Yep. It works. I am losing a bit of speed, but I can still watch YouTube lectures and tutorials just fine. These things are versatile and so easy to use. Hardly any setup aside from plugging them in. I'm not sure any other way could possibly be more simple. I highly recommend this product.Read full review

Pairing the units was quick and easy, stayed paired even when I moved one unit. Beware that these type units are limited in distance over the power line. Had poor connectivity when one unit was placed at the end of a circuit on a 200 ft run. Not the fault of these units.

This is the second pair of TP-Link devices that I purchased. TP-Link works very well even from very far points in my home from the router. So, I now have 3 places in my home network where I plug in to TP-Link Devices.
