My favourite album by The Bees so far. A brilliant mix of Psychedelia, Rock, Pop, Soul, R'n'B and Jazz. Contains the much in demand single "Chicken Payback" and also "Wash in The Rain", "Horseman" and "One Glass of Water." Give it a couple of plays and you'll be well into it. 10 / 10.
Free the Bees has tracks that make you feel like summer, complex instrumentations that feel as fresh as a summer meadow, lovely melancholic ballads, up tempo pop, fantastic irrelevant lyrics, a must for playing your car on a hot mid summer day with the windows down and the wind flowing through hair. This album is put in my car CD player every summer!
The Bees are a great band that write really good, catchy music and this album proves it. This album is a mixture of indie-pop and psychedelic rock. The music sounds like it could be from the 1960's or 1970's but is also upto date at the same time. This album is well worth every penny as is their latest album Octopus.
I bought this CD to replace the one I cracked, and it was worth every penny! I ould reccoment it to anyone who wants a descent rock CD to listen to.
I met the Isle of Wight duo last april at a dj set (rocknrollsoul@smithfields) in London. Once I've known their influences, I bought this fantastic album: if you like the mod/psych 60s sound this is for you. Although a variety of styles are covered the emphasis is more akin to 60s psychedelia, but the whole thing is definetly enjoyable and..."fresh". Highly recommended!
