Just got two chapters in to what I thought was a significant narrative. Strange to read of all the fuss that was made about choosing this story for such a pivotal piece of cinema. And then to find the actual writing of the book is so disappointing - dull, clumsy prose. I'm trying to force myself to read on - but the language is so drab and clunky - maybe it gets better?

Interesting especially for those who saw the film back in the 60s
