This book was published in 1990 on the fiftieth anniversary of ‘Operation Dynamo’ and lists some of the little ships that took part with accounts and details of them. Now, over thirty years on the whereabouts and status of some of the boats has obviously changed, but still a very useful book and this copy is in excellent condition. Well worthwhile as a reference book.

Saw the film Dunkirk (1958). Decided to research the small ships that the Royal Navy requisitioned to bring the British Army off the beaches of Dunkirk. Found this book on eBay so bought it. Was surprised firstly by that fact it is a hardback not paperback and then again by the vast number of little ships used in what looked like an impossible situation in Northern France. So many that survived the war seen within the pages of this book with a detailed history of each boat/ship with photographs. Was pleased to find the boat that had belonged to Charles Lightoller, 2nd officer on the RMS Titanic, Sundowner. He like many boat owners took his own boat across the channel, picking up 127 men.. The book is a must for those interested in wartime naval history.
