For a couple of months, I've been going down memory lane. I've been replacing and rebuying albums that I have on cassette or seem to have lost along the way. The Specials is one of them. The simplicity, the exuberance and the wit that I remember from twenty years ago are still there. It makes me bob my head and sing along just like it used to. It doesn't sound dated. In fact, it sounds better and more vital than a lot of what passes for rock these days.
one of the all time great albums from the post punk period. part of the ska revival of the late 70's this is my favorite of the many great records of this genre. lots of great memories driving around suburban chicago (circa 1982) looking for parties to this tape, then hijacking the stereo once we found one and putting this in. it drove the "normal" jocks crazy.
Great disc! If you like 80's two-tone ska then you already know about the specials. If you dont, then you should check this disc out. We all should be listening to what these guys have to say right now. Peace!
