About this product

Product Information

Young Imogen Burnhope and her maid Rhoda board a non-stop train to Oxford to visit her Aunt Cassandra, who waits on the platform at Oxford station where the train terminates, to greet them. Only they never arrive. All the passengers alight but the two women are nowhere to be seen. The train is searched and the coachman swears he saw them board onto first class, but they seem to have vanished into thin air. The Railway Detective must unravel the mystifying web of their disappearance before Imogen and Rhoda vanish into oblivion for good.

    read the whole series

This is such a good book to read even the wife is reading them- and she doesn't read. A victorian era who done it done by a good writer. If you enjoy a book that you dont want to put down, then start with the first novel The Railway Detective and work in sequence, then you can see the characters developing. The books have a touching on real locations and towns, streets and actual events that brings life into the books. Recommended.

  • Edward Marston

Have read all the previous Railway Detective Series. The little bits of history you get from the series, about the transport used, the railway, the police, the people its great. And the humour used is spot one, it made me chuckle. Marston is a master of the vocabulary, dictionary came in handle a few time, so keep one to hand. Would recommend this and the rest of the series to read
