I was looking for a prime wide angle for my Nikon, this Tokina is a great choice, the lens is very durable, well constructed and very sharp. I had always like Tokina lenses and this one is no exception. This is the perfect lens for landscapes, it is fast enough for every image, at f/3.5 is great. It does not have internal motor focus system.

Price Paid: 250.00 USD It's a shame that Tokina ceased producing this rather useful wide/super-wide-angle prime. The quality of manufacture inspires confidence, as does the optics and very, very competitive price. On a 1.5x cropped sensor, the lens of record provides roughly the same field of view as a 24mm one, where it serves admirably as a walk-around lens for those who are uninterested in an ultra-wide. I've yet to test it on my Nikon FE, but most independent reviews indicate that it should perform equally well, albeit in its intended capacity (read: as a rectilinear ultra-wide). In any event, it is an excellent choice for those seeking to make the most out of their money. Potential buyers--particularly those accustomed to newer AF-S/SWM lenses--might be deterred by its admittedly awkward "clutch" A/M focus switch and noisier screw-driven autofocus mechanism (which precludes use on Nikon bodies that lack an on-board AF motor, such as the D40, D40x, D60, D3000, and D5000). One operates the former by pushing or pulling on the rather commodious focus ring, but can only return it to the "MF" position by matching the distance scale index to the point at which it was pushed into the "AF" position. Though it will autofocus if left in the "MF" position, it is ill-advised owing to apparent dampening, which will slow down autofocus and exert unwonted strain on the motor. Otherwise, autofocus is fast and accurate, and manual focus is smooth and swell.Read full review
I bought Tokina RMC 17mm f3.5 that is manual focus not AF. So i can tell just for Tokina RMC 17mm f3.5 not for AF Tokina ATX PRO 17mm f3.5 -I buy it because i want ultra wide angle lens that not too big (This lens has 62 mm filter). -This is sharp in all aperture. small size, light weight. -Dislike is when use with widest aperture ,The contrast is too low.
