A great tale of aircrew during and after WWII and one Charlie Basset who falls in love with an ATA pilot who sets off on an adventure across Europe with the Red Cross. Because of her rich father in law who is an arms manufacturer and friend of Winston Churchill, Charlie gets recruited to go after her and bring her home. Charlie is supposedly attractive to women and a bit of a shagger so the guys will love this in particularly.

I only discovered David Fiddimore this year, what an amazing story teller! We are told that he was born in 1944 but you could be forgiven for believing that he was there, in Bomber Command, during WWII Charlie, Grace, Grease and the others came alive in the pages of this book and I was utterly absorbed in their story.

I am an 81 yea old female but really enjoyed it (I don't swear ) but found it a fascinating read and will have to find out what the third of the trilogy is. I have Charlie's war but wouldn't read it till I got Tuesdays. This was a speedy delivery so was pleased. Am starting Charlie's tonight. 👍👍
