Recommended! Works very well on my Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic and a Baron 3" Bullet tachometer after I added a 150 kohm resistor in series with signal from coil negative as described in the manual. 12 V power from coil positive, ground to frame. All switches on the adapter in off position as described in manual. Tachometer needle stable and responsive over whole range. This replaced the not so good single fire adapter that came with the tachometer.

amazing product, very versatile, instructions are clear and concise. Exactly what i needed, used it as a tach adapter for a vtx1800 and baron tach. I junked the baron's adapter because it wasn't working right. this gadget did the trick, love the ingenuity!

Got what I ordered. Not sure how well it will function as the project car this is destined for is still pending other work.

Fantastic little device - Very versatile and adaptable

I've been using a Racepak data logger for years with my Formula Vee race car which has a distributor and external ignition coil. The tach signal has been problematic using a GMR sensor which had to be placed at a precise distance from the coil to work and with vibration and movement would invariably lose a signal at the most inconvenient time. This Tach adapter changed all that allowing me to get a signal directly from the noisy negative post of the coil and convert it into a signal that the data logger can read directly. I was supplied a 230K resistor to use on the input signal to help filter the signal and it works beautifully. The unit is tiny (matchbox or smaller) and easy to connect. The dip switches allow the signal to be filtered further if needed and the ratio of pulses can be ...

    Easy to fit converter

The tach converter comes with good clear instructions and is easy to fit. It is a shame that it doesn't come with a few extra resistors (which only cost a few pence) as in my case they were required to get the rev counter to read smoothly. The hefty charges made by electrical suppliers to send out a very cheap part outweighs the component price 10 times over. Also consider the import charges when buying from America as this is half as much again over the purchase price. My 4 cylinder tachometer is now reading an 8 cylinder engine. At lower engine speeds it seems quite accurate but at higher rpm the tachometer does become more of an aesthetic feature than an accurate instrument. Nevertheless it retains the originality of the dashboard rather than needing an aftermarket gauge bolted on. I ...

  • Surprise noncompatable fine print

Not what I thought I was getting, after reading all instructions 3 times it makes a general statement that this UTA will not work on ''newer'' tachs. Just a general statement, nothing that tells me how to determine the compatibility short of trying. Guessing that trying this unit and if it doesn't work I'll have a part that will sit on my work bench and collect dust. I've checked the listing for more information and still feel more product info is necessary. Would not recommend because ''What is a NEWER tachometer'' as described in instruction.

  • Great little box! big time saver.

I was trying to retrofit a modern arduino based tach to an 20yr old motorcycle and the waveform is all wrong for that. This little box fixed me right up! If you need a good output signal from a spiked pulse on a coil. This will work for you. It was a lot smaller than I expected which was great. I would also love a non-mounted version that I could solder into a loom or somewhere completely out of the way but this will work for just about anyone.

  • Tach adapter

Used this on a 1983 Toyota Supra along with the tach amplifier, also supplied by this Ebay seller, after installing an LS3 6.2L chevy engine in. Works amazing!
