I've worked in electronics since 1992 using all manner of soldering equipment, so wasn't expecting much from this little fellow. I wanted it for small jobs at home, and it's spot on. I can even power it from a portable USB phone charger, which effectively makes it cordless. Very happy!

This is a neat little tool that seems great value for money, but at 8w it doesn't have the power to melt anything more than a tiny bit of solder, and fails to re-melt existing solder. The result is that it's next to impossible to flow any solder from the iron to the connection without it hardening too quickly - and it doesn't have the juice to carry on the job. A nice novelty at a great price, but I was left frustrated trying to solder a simple connection on my car. I've ordered a more powerful iron.

This is a great soldering iron, ideal for newer SMD components and smaller things. Its great for children to use also and has a really nice vibration sensor inside of it that will cut out after 20 seconds if you do not move it around. So if dropped or forgotten about on the side it will cut off safely for you. So make sure you tap your finger every 15 seconds slightly as you use it or it might keep switching off on you if you are not moving it about much. The product also came in good time and was well packaged. I highly recommend it for all people, with a power bank you have yourself a handy portable soldering iron here.

I didn't think this product would be much good but I was so pleasantly surprised with it's performance I actually bought another one as a spare. I should really change my name to Noah I sought of buy things in two's. Anyway if you're a Hobbyist working with electronics and everything being so small these days that you almost need a microscope to solder a component to a board then this fine tipped iron is for you. It heats up real quick would recommend 63/37 solder for any such soldering task much better results than 60/40 mix. Recommend you run from a good USB power bank battery one that can provide 2amps at 5volts. I advise not to run from a mains USB charger as there have been cases of small voltage leakage to soldering iron tip which might damage sensitive components. This doesn't happen when using a USB battery power bank and the advantage is you have a very portable soldering Iron that can work for quite a number of hours. This has already paid for itself many times over as I was away camping many miles away from home and needed to do a quick repair on a model Aircraft after it had a rough landing. This required some wire soldering away from home which I was able to do right away without having to drive home, but only because I had this very portable USB soldering iron and solder with me. If you're a hobbyist like me this is a must tool to pack and take with you for when you are away from home.Read full review

In addition to the soldering iron you will need a good quality fast USB charger. If you've got one (most smart phone users have) then this will work fine on small electrical soldering jobs. No use for anything big - but for re-soldering components to a motherboard its really excellent. considering the price it represents a must-have tool.
