Player would make clicking noises while loading discs and then show all zeros on it's display. A few regular DVDs would play as expected. Player would only recognize a few SACDs and would not play any of my HDCDs. I have purchased DENON products for over 30+ years now and they have always performed flawlessly. I had heard that DENON's product quality wasn't as good as it used to be. It would seem that those rumors are correct.

I had a DVD-3910 that stopped reading discs again and decided not to fix it this time, but replace it with the DVD-2930ci. It works OK so no complaints there, but it,s not as good as the 3910, Daa! I realize that the 3910 was a more top of the line player than the 2930. I also have an OPPO BDP-83, there are some standard DVDs that look better through the Denon (not many) and some look better through the OPPO. The OPPO and the 3910 up-converts to full screen but the 2930 doesn't at all. On some DVD's I liked the full screen up-conversion better on the 3910, also the SACD's sounded way better than the 2930 or the OPPO in both digital or analog. (OPPO now has an SE version to fix that) Over all the 2930 is OK, I'm just glad I got a deal on it, otherwise I would be really disappointed instead of just a little. I just wanted a backup to play CD's SACD's, DVD's or to shuffle play.Read full review
I'm very pleased with this unit. I bought it mainly for it's ability to play HDCD's and SACD's for which it provides very good sound quality. DVD sound and imaging is great as well. One drawback to using this unit is that it may temporarily stall when numerous CD's are played back-to-back. The solution is to turn the unit off for about 10 minutes then resume play.

love the picture it produces has a organic look and feel to the picture not digital looking like the cheepo's dvd ,sound quality top notch, numerous picture adjustments, you wont be disappointed, im using component video out this player is my prime for dvd playback, my panasonic bd 35 for blueray the panasonics dvd picture is a hair below the denons close bot not quite there
The unit is gorgeous and what is supposed to do is also awesome, but yet I agree with most people, is insanely slow and not always accepts SACD, or CDs,is worse than an old HD DVD_Player. I was disappointed by that and I wouldn't recommend it.
