It's been 20 years since Luc Besson made "The Fifth Element" which was a Classic film and now we get "Valerian and the city of a thousand planets" another Classic from the same stable...Luc don't make us wait 20 years for the next 5 star winner...(doff's cap)..

Please read the comics, much better. Better characters, story and plot. Through every comic Read in series or on their own. Good material GONE TO WASTE. I would s@#t in my hands and klap, then watch this again.

Imagine Avatar, add some Fifth Element and a sprinkling of Alita Battle Angel and you'll get an idea what to expect from Valerian. Visually the movie is gorgeous, it's worth watching with the sound turned down and some good music on the sound system. In truth, watching Valerian with sound turned on doesn't add as much as you'd hope. It's hard to know if the two lead characters are playing it straight or for laughs. Dane Deehan veers dangerously into Wayne's World territory while Carla Delevingne seems torn between tough girl and vulnerable kook. She's neither Fifth Element's Leeloo nor Suicide Squad's Harley Quinn. She is however devastatingly pretty. The whole is less than the sum of the parts but there's no denying that some of the parts are wonderful. If you're looking for a classic of the genre, move on. If you want a film that will make you laugh, cheer and leave you slightly gladder to have been alive, Valerian is worth buying.Read full review
