Like other Vivitar cameras, it works the way it's supposed to. The video-recording quality is actually a fair bit better than I expected, and it was a welcome change from PREVIOUS Vivitar models to actually be able to record a 1280x720 HD video instead of having to settle for a 640x480 SD one. Still photos are alright, given the type of lens and the fact that it's not designed for optical zooming like other brands of camera are. The high-resolution option, while not super clear and sharp like other camera brands, is definitely helpful if you want to resize them into smaller dimensions for a sharp, clear, picture. The menus are actually quite intuitive and easy to use if you haven't read the manual first, and it's definitely a good camera for beginners. The fact that it supports a very high-space SD cards to store videos and photos on (I bought a 32gb one SPECIFICALLY to use for this, and it worked great) is a HUGE plus. My only problem with it, however, would be the fact that it 1) uses AAA batteries instead of AAs, and 2) Vivitar cameras tend to be high-drain on said batteries. With my empty 32gb card, it says that it can record roughly 3 and a half hours of video at 1280x720, but let's face facts here--even a brand-new trio of batteries won't last that long on continuous use with this camera. I give this camera a 3.5 out of 5 Hot Peppers, and I'm not EATING a pepper, so I'm giving my absence of a pepper 0 out of 5 Hot Peppers. :) Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this review.Read full review
