I bought two of these, the second directly from Easibee's own website. I was slightly skeptical at buying two at the same time given that some negative feedback was given by other buyers so I wanted to see exactly what I was getting before I bought the second unit. I found the quality and fit of the kit to be first rate. It is unbelievably cheap because it is made in the Far East but there is no mistaking the wood being first grade Canadian cedar. The fitting instructions are scant to say the least but my advice is to take a bit of time and care with the assembly; Easibee have several how-to videos on YouTube. There are various other vids on YouTube or there are some better ones on thorns website where you can also appreciate what excellent value this kit is. Ignore all the vids and don't even think about bashing this kit together with nails as the components are top quality and deserve much better. The whole thing is crying out for some glue instead so I used glue and 40 and 25mm turbo ultra stainless steel screws from Screwfix and the resultant beehive looks as good as a piece of furniture and will last years. The dimensional accuracy I found to be spot on and the components had just the right amount of interference fit to stay where they were as the glue went off and no clamps were needed. For heavens sake don't puncture the metal roof and nail it down, glue it with some no more nails or similar. Likewise with the roof ridge, screw that up from the inside so there are no visible fixings on the finished article. The base comes ready assembled but it can be done better as it wobbles a bit. The components are machined spot on but are only fixed together with a four screws and few small nails. It's a five minute job to knock it apart and apply some glue to the mating faces before reassembly; then it is absolutely rigid and rock solid. In summary, the kit is 110% but it is only as good as the care taken in assembly; and that bit is down to you.Read full review

For start instruction is useless. You can not follow it as there is no follow. It asks to make holes in the metal roof-really? Dove tail joints do not fit no matter how many times you try and turn bits around, you need to trim them to make them fit what takes time and energy. Drops are made of small stripes of wood, on positive note, they are glued really well with grove to make joint extra strong and durable. Overall it’s doable to put it together and it looks nice when done, but I don’t think it will last long and I would suggest producer to work on making dove tail joints fit-it will make assembly much easier and quicker. Luckily I am handyman and I can adjust bits, not everyone is able to.

This is the second WBC I have bought from this site. Second time around I knew the slight tweaks I needed to make. Some of the joints do need filling or gluing for extra security and a tighter fit, but overall as long as you have a modicum of woodworking skills this is a great beehive with good quality cedar. Very pleased.

It could be a bit tricky for anyone that isn't DIY-wise, the instructions are lacking a bit but really it's quite straight forward. It's a true classic beehive that looks great in the garden (I've already added to it). I obviously wasn't expecting a walnut polished finished - it's a beehive. I expected the quality I was given, but I think it's a bit pricey for that type of quality.

Impressive value all round. Material, accuracy, price, delivery all very good. The base already built is a bonus. I'm mostly using screws for my convenience and durability, drilling first to avoid any splits. The only difference between this and my much higher price hive is that the legs are not angled outwards in both directions, may affect stability in high winds, not a problem on my site.
