About this product

Product Information

Team 17's Worms blasts off with a new theme and new kind of gameplay, designed to appeal to series newcomers and Wii fans alike. Teams of endearing, well-armed little worm soldiers take timed turns attacking one another with all sorts of overpowered armaments, until only one remains. Simplicity and accessibility prevail in this addition to the long-running series, as the weapon selection has been condensed to just over a dozen guns and gadgets, and the game can be controlled entirely with the Wii Remote.

Aside from the gesture-based controls, Space Oddity's other major departure from series convention is that it allows players to take practice shots. Dotted lines appear to track each practice shot, and if the player is satisfied with the trajectory, a practice shot can be locked in and used for the actual shot.

Some things seems never to change, however, including the cute, customizable combatants, the destructible battlefields, and the massive, often unexpected collateral damage. Worms fans are also sure to recognize favorite weapons -- even though they might have new, sci-fi inspired names, like the "Guided Frag" homing missile, the "Blaster" shotgun, or the "Impact Frag" bazooka shells -- as well as the crazy chaos they can create.

  • A rather sloppy game. But it is still Worms!

This game is rather poorly done. The visuals are very small and even on my 50" TV it is still rather small and unclear. The menu is quite awkward and there doesn't appear to be any team mode. The controls are VERY hard to learn, and work very awkwardly, I feel every time I go and play the game I have to relearn it all because it is so difficult. The weapons are a bit short in list but of themselves they are great worms style destruction. The terrain and landscapes are perfect and very lush and great alien worlds but the worms themselves are blurry and poorly modeled. It is nice to have it on a new game system but it could have been done much better. Hard to suggest this game, if you have never played Worms before and don't have a way to play Worm's 2 then this is a good choice. ...

  • Worms A spce oddity review.

Hi! this is my first review. It is for team17's Worms: a space oddity. Worms: A space oddity is the latest in a long running series of worm games. It is a turn based strategy game with deformable landscape, 10 weapons, 5 different tools, randomly generated landscapes and, of course, cute little worms intent on killing each other. All these things keep this game fresh for a large number of game plays. While retaining the essence of all the previous games, it lost several key aspects of the previous titles in the series, such as only a fraction of the weapons provided in the previous games and a comparatively short single player mode, with 36 missions. This is, of course, still a lot of missions, but the game play of the missions themselves is quite unsatisfying with mostly modified cpus as ...

  • Worms a Space Oddity for Wii

For those of you who are long time Worms fans, this game does not deliver compared to the others, but is still fun. The game is hard to figure out at first and takes time to understand the controls. I recommend playing on a larger television because the worms are so small. The game has also lost some of its integrity, giving up its old and faithful weaponry. But to make a long story short, the use of the Wii's motion controls offset these issues to make a fun game. The most difficult part of the game is learning the motion controls.

  • Though fun, a bit of a disappointment

I started playing Worms on PSP and fell in love with the crazy, witty little game! I then bought the two version pack for the computer and was just as satisfied with it as I was the PSP. So when I saw there was a Worms game for Wii and I just got a Wii at Christmas, I was ecstatic! Got a good deal and bought it. Yes, it's a Worms game so automatically that means there is a good level of fun. However, the Wii game disappoints because it's not what you would think Wii Worms would be! Here are a few disappointments compared to the original game versions: Old game: many language sets (so many you probably can't get through them all); New game: I haven't counted, but maybe 15 or so language sets and they are not even as advanced (as many sayings) as the original game versions Not as many ...

  • Good Overall: Bad Out of the Series

Its a wonderful game, as is the entire Worms series, but as a part of the series it is seriously lacking. The game for the Wii has decreased its weaponry by a lot from its former titles and also the amount of one player missions are fewer in number and far less challenging, giving it lower replay value. Also, Worm: A Space Oddity tries too hard to incorporate the Wii-mote functions, meaning that some items are exceptionally hard to use and gives hard-core veterans a whole to style of game to overcome. But sentiments from former Worms editions aside, Worms: A Space Oddity is all-in-all a good game and fun for fans and beginners alike.
