Pros - sounds good - has a direct option which bypasses the preamp which in some cases improves sound - has lots of input options and networking even though I don't use them - ability to bi-wire speakers - price Cons - biggest issue is firmware - they've placed a limit of 500 on an external source i.e. USB - it has trouble playing albums where it just stops and the drive falls asleep. You have to press forward to start it up again. Sometimes it stops after every song which is frustrating. - company blames using an external drive that is not a dongle which is rubbish as the drive works fine and plays the formats listed if you only put simple and small albums and collections on the drive - doesn't have digital radio - display falls behind songs being played - display rotates song once then stays fixed on limit making it impossible to work out long titles if you missed the start and it didn't get stuck on an earlier song Note you probably won't have these issues of you use a device that has its own program to play your collection. But I haven't checked what you'll get on the Yamaha display. Be good if you can customise the inputs to the ones you use so you don't have to turn the dial all over to switch between the ones you use. Although remote had them all which is easier. Recommendation: Determine your main requirements for using it and then work out if it's going to help you enjoy your music or frustrate you. Based on my experience, if I had my time again I wouldn't have bought it. The challenge is for Yamaha to deliver the quality they are renowned for!Read full review
