These batteries are sometimes needed because they are the correct voltage for a particular item such as a calculator or watch. These are Silver Oxide and so are 1.55 volts and not 1.5 volts as would be supplied by an alkaline cell. Both cells have a compatible size and so I have received a calculator which looked to be broken because it had the wrong batteries in it and could not function correctly. Some old devices - that calculator was 30 years old maybe - require the silver oxide technology for proper function. I bought four of these units and used two each in two similar calculators. My old calculator is used to the silver oxide ones and the other calculator came fully to life when I fitted the correct cells. You have to be careful to apply the higher voltage if 1.55 volt is correct. This because permanent damage would occur if you apply the wrong voltage. You would have to check carefully which batteries are correct for each device. Size in this case is no correct indicator. The correct voltage is all important and this time I got it right. Two working calculators and no whiffs of smoke from a burnout.Read full review
