My previous phone was the C905 which I loved except for the fact that it broke every other week! I wanted to stick with Sony Ericsson because I like the User Interface and the high camera quality, so it was either the Aino or the Satio. As I work on building sites I figured the full touch screen Satio wouldn't last a day, hence I bought the Aino. The screen is a lot taller than the C905 but turned on it's side it makes the perfect wide screen media player/camera. Despite being 8.1 megapixels, the same as the C905, I wouldn't say the camera on this is as good, as the settings have been simplified for touch screen configuration. Incidentally the touch screen is ONLY operative when the slider is closed. The media player is very good and the bluetooth headset control is very effective. It took me a while to figure out how to change the volume on it (you don't just press the + or - buttons you drag your thumb across in the direction you want the volume to change) but the control is very lightweight and despite having a clip to fasten to a collar is actually light enough to just leave swinging freely (with skull candy headphones, I'm not sure if this would work with in-ear ones). The only way to clear your internet search history, i.e. things you have actually typed in to look for, is with through the 'search' link on the shortcuts. You won't be able to do it if you actually open the internet icon itself. In hindsight it wasn't the wisest choice getting the white one considering my job involves me getting my hands filthy, but it does look a lot smarter than the black one and a baby wipe brings it up good as new every time! There is a torch feature where by the flash can be switched on, off, timed on for a minute or flash SOS morse code! Track ID is still there so just hold it next to loud music, press start and it will ID the song and artist and provide you with a link to buy it should you wish. Text messages can be sent and read in conversation style similar to the iphone. There is obviously the PS3 remote control function which, as I'm not a gamer, I'm not too familiar with but given the standard of everything else on the phone I'm sure it will be good. There is a TV option under media which takes you straight to the BBC iplayer but it only works on certain networks. The quality of the music player, as you would expect with anything affiliated with Sony, is superb. Applications include facebook, and if you debrand the handset to the right region you can also get twitter as well. Bluetooth robot is the only pointless app on there considering the the bluetooth robot it is designed to control is discontinued and the ones that are available are fortunes. I'm not sure why they put this feature on unless they're planning on re-releasing the robots but I assume something would've been announced by now. Accuweather is very good and much better than the rubbish the Met Office throw out! Music quiz is quite good too. It imports all the music in your library then plays you the beginning of a song and presents you with multiple choice answers against the clock to name the track. I've not played with Media Home on it yet but you can update content on your phone wirelessly through your pc (I think). Overall the phone is really good. The battery life is very reasonable. It's got proper buttons for texting and calling and touch screen for media player and camera function (and some aftermarket apps) so it's the best of both worlds!Read full review
Bought as an upgrade from a SE C905 the Aino's all a bit 'meh' to be honest. The larger screen and slimmer size are an obvious improvement over the 905 but on the down side the Aino's battery life is poor, the camera isn't as good and the predictive text appears to have been set-up by a retard on acid. That said I personally like a relatively compact phone with a decent camera, largish screen and old skool buttons 1-9-0 that I can physically press so I'd still take the Aino over a Blackberry or full touch screen mobile phone no matter how many bells and whistles they come with. Alas, as years go by the board room and design teams employed by the assorted mobile phone companies gets younger and younger so common sense and realism goes out of the window. Their target audience is now restricted to lazy, illiterate under 30's obsessed with text speak who would find it hard to string a coherent sentence together. Message to Sony Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung etc. There are millions of people out there who would like a slim and stylish slider phone with a large screen, good 8+mp camera with flash and non-qwerty keyboard with real world predictive text. It can't be that difficult, surely, SO FFS MAKE ONE!!!Read full review
The (SE) Sony Ericsson Aino is a fantastic phone with regards to mobile phones, there is a common misconception that it was mean't to be a PSP replacement due to the remote play feature that is included with the SE (UI) User Interface, I firmly believe that if SE are to introduce a PSP phone they will emphasise the fact that it is a "PSP" phone. Now onto the facts, the phone works fantastically as a mobile phone and ticks all of the relevant boxes, as a multimedia phone yet again it works perfectly and becomes even more pleasing the fact that the micro sd slot is hot swappable. It is a lovely looking phone but then everybody has different opinions about the style and colour of phone they prefer, the luminous white version is particularly attractive. Now to the negative points, the semi responsive touch screen can be quite tedious when operating it while in multimedia mode and unfortunately this is the only time that you can use the touch screen. Remote play feature is brilliant but for the techophobe it could become quite tricky to setup correctly. This is a short but sweet review of a highly underestimated phone that has the capabilities of being a 128gb multimedia monster, if it was seen as a mobile phone rather than a PSP replacement it would be a much more appreciated phone.Read full review
The phone is great and easy to use. there is a fe issues though. the camera is not as good as i hoped as the picture quality is not very good when taken in sunlight. the video play back when play mp4's is not briliant and a bit jerky. the wirless head sent is the thing i love and would recomend getting one for any sony phone. i have onyl had it 2 weeks and still playing. the gps is a handy feature if you are out walking. all in all a good phone but if you want good photos go for something else.
