Gives me an external eSata connection.
I have an Intel SSD that I can now connect to my ASUS motherboard using this socket. It works fine. The eSata connection here doesn't supply power but power is available from the USB connectors. I bought an inexpensive cable that combines the eSata for data and the USB for power into one drive SATA connector.
