Put simply, 3D AF is a revolution in digital photography. Because now you can capture sharp, high-quality images of a moving subject, even if it's coming right at you. The DiMAGE A1 features Konica Minolta's innovative subject tracking algorithm, which continues focusing on your subject as it moves along the X, Y, and Z-axes of the picture frame. Then, when you fully press the shutter release button, predictive focus control takes over. It compensates for the time lag between shutter release and image capture to further ensure accuracy. This entire autofocusing process is extremely fast, thanks to a specialized ASIC chip.The DiMAGE A1 offers not only a wide shooting range, but outstanding color as well. One key to this is Konica Minolta's new image processing LSI. As shooting conditions change, the incoming CCD signal is precisely calibrated for white balance, contrast, color reproduction, and other factors. The LSI delivers excellent results with noise reduction, especially in the flat areas of an image, and leads to shots that appear strikingly natural. In addition to improved color processing, the new LSI also has the advantages of lower power consumption and faster processing - the DiMAGE A1 records JPEG images on a CompactFlash card at 1.5x the speed of the DiMAGE 7i/7Hi.Konica Minolta's Anti-Shake system gives you a highly effective way to deal with camera shake - a major cause of substandard images, especially with telephoto shots and in dim lighting. The DiMAGE A1 is the world's first digital still camera featuring a CCD-shift mechanism to stabilize images. To turn on Anti-Shake you simply press a button, which then lights up to let you know that the function is on. Activation is immediate, thanks to a specialized integrated circuit. Anti-Shake is driven by an exclusive algorithm that offers stability over a wider range than conventional systems (up to 3 shutter speeds slower than the standard estimate for a scene, depending on shooting conditions). The CCD-shift mechanism helps keep the camera compact.White balance not only helps you obtain accurate coloration under different types of lighting, but it also lets you experiment with the overall tone of your images. Auto control is supplemented by 6 preset options, which can be selected right away, and 3 customizable settings. For even greater control over white balance, you can use the rear control dial to adjust 5 of the presets within a +/-3 level range. For the sixth preset, Fluorescent, you are given several types of fluorescent light to choose from.The DiMAGE A1 offers movie recording with a variety of scenes and lighting conditions. For example, if your subject is at a distance, you can use 7x optical zoom to capture the action. And, to ensure that the picture stays steady during recording, Anti-Shake technology is available at all focal lengths. Movie clips are captured at 320 x 240 resolution, with audio, and may be up to 15 minutes long. Capture rate is 24 fps.Product Identifiers
