A thinner form the best quality hobby enamel around.
Anyone who;s run across my brief review of Tamiya's enamels know the high opinion I have of them. For anyone who recalls the superb Pactra enamels of sainted memory, they're the next best thing. The Tamiya X-20 Enamel Thinner is - obviously - designed for use with their enamel paints. It's a highly-refined thinner, similar to mineral spirits but less "hot", and so less likely to attack acrylic undercoats when used as the carrier for a wash. Like the Tamiya enamel colors, the only drawback is that it's not imported to North America at all. But it can easily be obtained from a variety of hobby vendors in Southeast Asia. With exchange rates at their present levels, it's not terribly expensive considering its quality. But if the dollar weakens, how long will this situation obtain? Like most Tamiya products, the Enamel Thinner is "highly recommended".
