A lot of function in a small camera
I use the A620 daily at work and have for over 8 years wearing out several sets of rechargeable batteries and wearing the printing off of the case with my fingers. The movable view screen is really helpful as I take photos of items being tested in a lab. I figured that a newer version with a larger screen and more resolution would be a step up. I was able to get a real clean used camera for a fraction of it's new cost and nearly nothing compared to what new cameras of this quality are selling for. The easy ability to set the timer for the delay I want and then have it shoot more than one shot at a time keeps from having to try and get the family to re-pose for those family photographs. The ability to shoot in black and white or sepia allows me to play with my creative side. This is a camera, along with the A630, that Canon should not have stopped making. Personally, I believe that it is one of the best compacts that Canon ever made. It is simple and easy to use, the controls are intuitive, and it gives you high quality photos. It has everything you want or need and nothing that you don't.
