Slightly expensive but worth it. I am using it feed a thermostically controlled shower unit which needs balanced hot and cold water pressures. In my installation the low pressure hot water is from a gravity system with a cold water header tank in the loft and the cold feed is at much higher pressure from the incoming water main. This valve has what looks like single check valves on both inputs and you can use either input for hot or cold. I have fitted an additonal Double Check Valve on the cold to make absolutely sure that the install meet water regulations on back flow. Most shower mixers need a specified minimum Bar water pressure to work well so it may be useful to know that 1 Bar is the pressure you get from a 10 metre (about 33 feet) head of water. For example, if the loft tank water surface is 5 metres above the tap then the water pressure would be around 0.5 bar. 2 metres 0.2 bar etc.. However the pressure you get at the tap in practice will be slightly less due to the pipe run. I am running at a hot water pressure of roughly 0.5 bar and this valve works really well with an excellent flow on both hot and cold. The cold assumes the pressure of the hot of course just to be clear. All pipe work should ideally be well flushed of debris (flux or PTFE tape or copper/limescale particles for example) before fitting this valve otherwise there is a risk it may not work properly. Overall I am pleased with this product so far but have no idea how long it will last in service. For this reason, I have piped it so that it can be dismounted very easily for service or replacement. You will have to provide your own olives and nuts of course, all standard 15mm as per the description.Read full review

This is the second one I have purchased, the first one I installed in a flat that had a central hot water system and main pressure cold water. It has worked well and makes an easy to control shower. This one is being used in a similar fashion, the property has a large stored hot water tank and mains pressure cold water. Although the shower has been in use many years it is difficult to set the temperature. In response to moaning from the tenants I am adding this valve and a thermostatic control. I fully expect this to resolve the problem.

Pros: Sorts out mixed water pressures in gravity/mains systems so digital shower pumps will work and it's very easy to install. Cons: Does not come with nuts and olives
