Lightweight with Great Features!
Though the figure is a bit on the thin side, I do like how she is articulated (elbows bend, wrists bend), I do wish her knees were articulate also. The facepaint is great, the hair (which I have heard often comes in a questionable state) was fairly close to the prototype picture, I won't have to work on it too much. And her glasses are GREAT, as is her vintage style dress. Overall she makes for a fine presence displayed or interacting with other dolls or era-appropriate props and decor. The accessories are fantastic too, the NASA badge, etc., even the dials turn on the phones. It was work getting her out of the box without FURTHER mussing the hair, so I was lucky to have the aid of other dolls nearby.

More than just a doll - a piece of history!
I just love this doll. When I learned that Mattel made a series for Inspiring Women, I had to have Katherine Johnson -- in part because she was a fellow West Virginian. The shoes, the dress, the glasses -- all the details are what makes this doll so special. I learned from the box that she was a child prodigy who went to high school at age 10 and graduated from college at age 18. The movie "Hidden Figures" didn't even touch on her childhood and adolescence. I'm keeping her in the box as much as I would love to take her out. This is for Adults! Truly a 'Keeper'.
I love the tailored look of her dress. The accessories truly represent the style of the era Mrs. Johnson worked at NASA. Even her ID Tag appears authentic. The look of the dolls' face is similar to Mrs. Johnson but keep in mind it is still a doll.
