I bought this camera as an upgrade from a fairly annoying D2H, upon learning that the hardware was improved to deal with the excessive noise that plagued d2h. The D2H was a fast response, fast focus and high fps camera, the 8fps and the 37ms reponse let me capture instant moments and handheld brackets, however it had imperfect color rendering with a redish cast even on accurate WB, The buffer had a software cap stopping at 40, and the ISO performance was horrible, rendering the camera useless past 800 and quite noisy past 500. Now the D2hs improved upon all of the aforementioned problems, the colours come out perfect, Auto white balance is now usable and most importantly the noise performance of the d2hs is 2x better in raw, usability easily goes to 1600 without need for noiseware. Another grand thing about the d2hs is the removal of the software buffer cap, once you shoot past 60 if you have a fast card, it will continue firing. Now here are some general Pros and cons of the camera: Pros: Medium format grade pixel pitch at over 9 microns, exceptional tones, only almost matched by d2x. Weak Lowpass filter results in sharpest 4mp you'll ever see. You can upscale to about 9mp with an increase in perceived resolution. Only about 30% less detail than d2x when upscaled. Durability and weathersealing - withstands blizzards and rainstorms 4 megapixels: obvious advantages and disadvantages, RAWs are about 6mb, this saves space and reduces processing time. World leading responsiveness - Instant startup and 37ms shutter delay - still the fastest as of 2015 - faster than the d4. Battery life - once again superior to the d4, thousands of shots on a healthy en-el4a Low Price for pro body - pros pay thousands for competitiveness, response and quality, now you can get a less competitive but responsive pro body for almost nothing. RAW shadow detail is great. Cons: The D2hs is quite rare nowadays. 4mp: can upscale to 9mp but past that it has no difference, lines are thicker than 12mp+ dslrs. Images look sharp uncropped but forget about cropping. JPEGS out of the camera suck, astonishingly narrow dynamic range and lack of resolution. Shouldn't be a problem if you shoot raw.Read full review
These pro cameras have been around for a while now and on paper they are out preformed by modern entry level DSLRs. However the spec is not the be all and end all. These cameras still produce great results. The high ISO performance of the D2Hs up to 1600 iso is fine. The camera can still focus with the best of the modern cameras and drives at 8 fps. The battery performance is very good. They are built like a tank, weatherproof and can take a knock or two. Mine is running at 185,000 actuations and still going strong. Due to the low prices you won't mind taking it out in poor conditions or when it might get bashed. The only thing to bear in mind is that at 4 mega pixels you won't be able to crop you images very much. Find one that had been looked after and you will have a pro camera that will last for years.Read full review

I had been looking for one of these camera bodies for sometime - and I wasn't disappointed. It does what it says on the "tin" designed for high speed action shooting of up to 8 frames per second with continous focus. This feature rich professional camera can only be beaten by the Nikon D3 at 4 times the price. It takes all my modern Nikon lenses with no loss of features - so far stunning results.
Fantastic camera, great sensor. Colors are sensational. This 4 Mpix camera is more than I will ever need. Selling my D300 now.
