A primitive but amusing digicam from 2001 that records onto floppy disc. This was from an era when solid state memory was expensive and everyone had a PC with a floppy drive - I relied on them for backups! Controls are simple - no interminable menus and settings you will never use - picture quality is bad, you only get a 640 x 480... but you can get about 20 of those on a floppy disc... the on board battery (the one that keeps the clock going) is easily replaceable, which is a plus. It is slow to write but you get an amusing display while it whirs furiously. No good for sports then... There are other Sony floppycams but some of them use memory cards as well, which sort of spoils it - and they are no faster - this is pure floppiness. Mine was faulty but it was fairly simple to repair, the floppy ejector lever had jammed. If you can get a good one in box with charger, battery and instructions it is a good collectors item, and will raise a smile or two at parties.Read full review

Yes, of course it is only VGA 640-480 resolution which by today's standards (2019) isn't good. However, compare like for like; I have. Looking at the results from other VGA cameras from 1999, the picture quality & colour is unbelievably better from the Sony Mavica range of FDD cameras when compared with other brands of the same resolution & year. I bought the camera because I had one for years before until I broke it.There is nothing to dislike about it...it has zoom, many effects, simple to use and you can take a huge amount of photos on one floppy disc and simply download them straight on your PC. I would definately buy this product again.
EASE OF USE - STORAGE MEDIUM FLOPPY DISC. 10 X ZOOM.CAN TAKE PICTURES IN SEPIA ,BLACK AND WHITE ,ART STYLE. RECHARGABLE LONG LASTING LI-ION BATTERY.
I relaised before I purchased this camera it was one of the early digital models but it being SONY was all the guarantee I needed. I am enjoying the camera and I am very pleased with my purchase. The only disadvantage of this model is it takes floppy discs, but I am still delighted with my purchase and its pictures.
