Tried to fix. E74. Partial success then just failed again within a day Lost all video and hana chip dead. Advice when Xbox broke it's broken Repairs to these old consoles are for the die hard and those wishing to tinker. You may resurrect the console for a while but to honest it's borrowed time. Sorry Microsoft, that's what happens going cheap.......... :-p

All the older boxes suffering the same problem: overheat. The main problem is not just the heat itself, the main problem if you switch off the console, it cannot dissipate the heat. So you have to take care of the following: - Although it looks nice vertical, ALWAYS use it horizontal - Do not put in in shelves or other closed furniture - If you know a person who can modify the box, it is highly recommended to mod it with aftercool Aftercool is a small panel lets the fans running after you switched off the console, to help it cool down. With that you will not see the infamous RRoD, the red ring of death.
It's a very great console really easy to use and does not take too much space. The game collection has variety of choices, from small to big users. The controler is really easy to get used to and its really comfortable in hands. The negative thing is that the console is quite loud and it starts to heat up really fast. But overall good fun and exciting way to spend your free time. But I suggest to buy the slim console.
Having not been a gamer since I was in junior school, I recently got a PS3 slim and I was hooked again! things have moved on a lot! I then saw some of the new games were exclusive to each console and the Kinect looked fun so I thought about buying an Xbox and saw that I could pick one up for around £70. I thought why not (and mine has the advantage of being banned from live!) And if I was writing this without being a PS3 owner it would get 5 stars, but the PS3 is so much more a quality bit of kit that this only gets 4. First I bought from a great seller who knew his xbox's inside out, mine is the Falcon, with extra thermal paste, and the Hitachi DVD drive, im told the best combo for this model. Right lets get the negative out the way, this is NOISY and I mean loud the fans are quite distracting if you are playing with the volume low when the kids are in bed. The dashboard is very basic and lacks several options that I would guess are standard on most modern products, it is very old fashioned. and the controler is heavy and the sticks are off centre. And you have to pay for live services, The PS3 is streets ahead of the Xbox on all these fronts. Right the positive, HD gaming for £70! less than the price of a crumby Wii and its 1980 graphics, yes PC's are incredible I know but gaming with keys and the costs put me off. The Kinect is great for the family and opens up a new experience, The PS3 Move is much more responsive and better for gamers, but the sport/dancing games can be tricked just by shaking your controler about. And most games are programed for the weaker Xbox and ported to the PS3 so play better, but when you play say God of war 3 on the PS3 it really does shine! and please dont bother with an expensive HDMI, My PS3 lead was £20 and my Xbox lead £2.80 and there is NO difference in quality, digital signals either work or don't. Overall a very impressive item for little money and Kinect is great for fun and getting lazy kids moving, but if your split between xbox or PS3 then PS3 wins, and dont forget your blue ray! But if your going to be playing media through them the Xbox is a lot better as the PS3 player is a bit rubbishRead full review

Console works fine, bought this one after my last had packed up to hold me over till the new generation and didn't want to buy a brand new one. Was worried about buying second hand but it works fine and does the job. No complaints. :)
What I liked about it was the price, and the promptness of the product. As an older xbox, and as older xboxes in general go. it is not without problems. I am experienceing the 'open tray error' since buying this xbox, but I have a feeling this is because of the recent update of the xbox live software rather than the hardware. But I do find that the xbox doesn't perform very well and is unreliable, even still. I've had a lot of fun with this and it has changed my social life totally and its loads of fun!
Absolutely love this console, the quality in graphics and gameplay is incredible, so so glad I chose the Xbox 360 over the more expensive Xbox One

Having sold my PS4 I decided to downgrade to a Xbox 360. It is built like a tank and I throughly enjoy playing call of duty.
