Photography in the Third Dimension!
Stereo 3D photography was something of a 'craze' as early as the mid-19th century; enjoying a five-year resurgence in the early 1950s and again more recently with the vogue for 3D TV and games hardware. It was within this latter context that Fujifilm introduced their "REAL" 3D cameras, firstly the W1, then this improved version, the W3, in 2010, adding 3D movie capability. Having two lenses instead of one, the Fujifilm REAL 3D camera 'sees' the world in stereo as we do; i.e. not only in terms of height and width, but also with depth. This extra dimension brings a quality of realism and immersion that makes one feel "in" the photo, rather than just looking "at" it. Photographs taken can be displayed immediately on the camera's own lenticular 3D viewing screen, then printed out or shown on a TV or computer monitor as anaglyphs, which are viewed with the aid of easily obtainable red/cyan 3D glasses. They can also be printed out as "side by side" stereo pairs, for either 'free' (cross-eyed) viewing, or placing in a viewing device called a stereoscope. The "FinePix Studio" software supplied on CD was released in 2010 to work with 32-bit Windows 7, Vista or XP. Buying the camera as new, but presumably old stock in June 2021, I could not install its supplied software in my 64-bit Windows 10 PC. Luckily, an excellent alternative 3D photo manipulation software program called Stereo Photo Maker is available online for free, and this works well with Windows 10. It would be wise to use the cord wrist strap supplied, as the camera is easily dropped owing to its smooth shape, and needing to be held in an unfamiliar way - so as to avoid fingers obscuring either of its two lenses. There is only 34Mb of onboard memory, so the early fitting of a high capacity standard-size SD card is recommended. Read full review

The only affordable digital 3d solution as yet
Great screen, the show stopper, easy to use, if you are technical, the advanced 3d modes are good. The actual camera is only really as good as a medium compact, not the control of flexibility of high end. The software is average, use Stereo Photomaker for PC its free and can convert the MPO files for you to other formats. Too easy to put fingers over the lens, though the camera does warn you. All in all the only real one camera 3d digital solution and a good price. Fujifilm are very innovative. Look forward to the next model.

I have had this camera for over three years... Still just love it !
Really good build quality, excellent quality photos and video with amazingly good 3D effect. The LCD screen even allows you to experience the 3D when reviewing your shots just on the back of the camera. For best effect, play back on a 3D television and enjoy the simply amazing quality from this tiny little camera. Never ever had an issue with battery life although I did purchase a spare Fuji battery at the time, I can't recollect ever having to switch batteries within a days shooting. Same applies for storage. You know you are going to shoot high quality 3D video, so buy an appropriate sized, high speed SD Card. That way you will not experience any issues. So many people ( including professional / commercial photographers ) have seen this little camera and been simply shocked by the quality of photograph and video produced by what looks like nothing more than a baby digital snapper ! Great 3d camera can't stop using it.
Love this camera as it opens a whole new way of seeing every day situations which you seem to miss with a 2d image, I use this camera more than my others now, and am very happy with with its performance. Make sure you keep your fingers away from the front lenses as it is very easy to obstruct the scene in front of you. The battery life is not brilliant, but will last to get all those super 3d images on a decent size memory card. Movies are better quality than expected as well. All in all a great camera.
