Kester 63/37 .04 its the right size for me for general use.
I had used up the last Kester 1 pound solder I had bought in 2015.. it was 63/37 .031
I used it for repairing a few solid state amplifiers.. soldering connectors on my speed controls and batteries for my Airplane hobby.. and for making adaptors for my Lipo chargers and back up adaptors for DC lights in the event the power is off and I dont want to run the generator late at night.
I even used the solder for repairing a metal fuel tank on my 8 HP generator...
ohh I also built a Class A Kt88 amplifier with that solder.. and a few sets of speaker crossovers.
The only regret I had is..... I wish I had purchased a larger diameter for my uses.
BUT I DIDNT WANT something to large for circuit board repair.
and maybe its just me.?? I think $ 40.00 is a lot for a roll of solder and I dont use it sometimes for a few months at a time.. SO I only need 1 -- 1 pound roll ..( best value) I dont want to buy 3 or 4 sizes and then I would have at least $ 120.00 dollars just in solder.??
So I settled on Kester 63/37 .04 diameter.. I tested it on some larger RC connectors and a few smaller wires... This seems to be the perfect size for me. This solder works very good and leaves a nice shinny connection.
I think .031 solder is to small for general use.. . starting at .04 and maybe up to .055.
Just my thoughts.. kester is the best. and thats why I bought it. ~
UPDATE .. this new solder works much better than my old solder.. this solder flows very smooth and shines.. I have been soldering 40 years and this is the best Solder I have used !
