Before buying the Canon 10D I had never owned any Canon products. So why buy this one, now ten years old ? I already owned a small Fuji FinePix bridge camera and a thirty year old Mamiya 645 with lovely lenses. I bought a Mamiya-Canon lens adapter and now could use them with this digital sensor. That was the sole reason. Beware though, this 10D is as heavy as the Mamiya 645, made of cast magnesium alloy. Beware too that the memory is CF compact flash and not the modern SDHC type. However for price/performance the 10D today is a bargain. The original price ten years ago was over £1000. If you want to use old legacy lenses with an adapter and can only afford about £120, then get the 10D else buy a modern bridge camera. Ultimately, the CF memory was a problem for me. I was connecting to my pc using the USB cable and it takes minutes to transfer the files using USB 1.0 technology. I pulled the CF card and replaced it with a second card and in doing so bent one of the pins inside the camera socket. That will cost about £80 to repair. I do NOT recommend removing the CF card but stick with the slow transfer speed to USB. When I get the repaired Canon 10D back I will dedicate it to holding a huge heavy legacy lens and keep it for long-telephoto work. I have since got a Canon 550d which is way more sophisticated and uses SDHC memory, and its as light as the Fuji FinePix. So 2/5 for weight, 4/5 for not having video or a few other 550d features and 5/5 for value but keep the CF card in the camera !Read full review
These cameras are typically Canon, so very well built and with a great set of functions - Either use it as an auto or fiddle for hours as you wish. A great buy if you want to use your Canon SLR lenses of course. When new this camera was VERY expensive, but you can now buy a used body only for around £100. On the against side, the body is much heavier and bigger than the newer 1000/1100D camera (but these newer models are more expensive of course at £300+ and £400+ respectively), your old lenses will be heavier, power hungry and less accurate too. So it depends on your budget, as you can get a lot of function for a lower cost with the 10D, but also a less-clear and smaller LED screen, and much more bulk and weight to carry.
Excellent camera with which to teach/learn photography. the settings are simple and not over-complicated like more recent models. Better than this, the 10D was originally sold as the flagship digital camera for professionals to use around the world. My first 10D cost £2000, and now I buy one for less than £100. The price has changed but the camera hasn't. This is the camera that created magazine front covers and newspaper pictures of formula 1. It may look cheap and small and old...but it is a professional camera, in a metal body to resist professional knocks and bumps, with a high quality shutter and firmware to match.

I've used an instant camera for the last years. Let me start with the following. Above you can read just behind D60 6.3 Megapixels. This camera has an amazing 18 MEGAPIXELS !!! I noticed this new camera, just a bit more than a standard instant camera. After reading the good things (reviews) about this camera I decided to buy one. I was very pleased about the white balance (with or without flash) and even with different type (warmth) of light the white balance was more than okay. The fast drive (multiple shots) are amazing. The stabelizer is working great. It's weight is much less than the previous canon types (same or less specifications). What really surpised me is the power of the batterypack. I often use flash and auto focus but I can shoot heaps of photo's without charging the battery again and again. The price in relation to the specifications is more than reasonable. A very large display with easy to use set-ups is a must. The easy to use depth of field is working so easily. When you hate manuals than this camera is something for you. The only negative I can come up with is the on/off witch. It would be better that switching the on/off switch would go smoother.Read full review
Brilliant, simple to use lightweight professional style camera complete with it's software CD and manuals. When bought from ebay it was very reasonably priced. It arrived quickly from the vendor. Once charged batteries were installed in the camera all it's features became accessible. Test shots when the lens was finally obtained were excellent, clear and sharp pictures, easy to frame and compose photgraphs through the SLR features - basically an outstanding camera
