Price is fantastic! It is plug-in-and-play but, in my case, this model is not fully compatible with my 600D and only manual firing is avaliable, even so, I still get wireless shooting by switching modes on the unit. Wireless flashes are always fussy when it comes to signals and this is no exception, it will be very hard to hide this flash unit and still have a good signal; best to use a radio trigger. Light quality and spread is good and the diffuse option is a very nice touch that some up market units do not have. This is easily much better over the lower cannon speedlights as it has more power, more options, rotates and looks the part. However, build quality doesn't escape the cheap feel. You NEED batteries installed even if it goes directly on the hot shoe, probably due to the wireless design. I have put battery life as good as I haven't been able to fully test them yet and there are far too many variables for a good verdict. Strobing is not surpising and only the best flash units can keep up with cameras, what I do like is the fast recharge rate and consistancy. Now to the company... Service was swift and professional but postage was an issue, being delivered on the far side of the scale at 5 weeks - I normally receive larger parcels in 2-3 weeks. In the end I would use this as an excellent entry level flash unit or a backup, however, at this price they are extreamly hard to beat and if you have any doubts why not shoot in RAW and edit out the flaws?Read full review
First I needed a cheap speedlight. It fitted somehow to my Nikons and that was an option I liked. Anyway, the main use for this chinese exposure helper is with multiple flash triggering system. YongNuo works as the fourth flash unit in my system. And it carries that duty great. The power source makes a slightly disturbing noise, but compared to price, I can manage with it. Easily. Next time, looking for a new speedlight, I will check first, what YongNuo has to offer. We had to remember how cheap this unit is. Maybe a thing I would do otherwise are those function keys. But they are not a problem for me. I can recommend this product for photographer who needs an additional speedlight forexmple working as slave or for multiple exposures.
I initially bought this for my lighting kit as part of a wireless flash system, which works awsome with a reflective umbrella and remote trigger. I used it on my Lumix DSLR and it produces the most natural looking skin color out of all the flashes that i own. It takes 4 AA batteries which makes it very heavy specially if its directly mounted on your camera. It works with a generic wireless trigger so if this is what your buying it for then by all means go ahead and buy one. The price of this "no-name" brand really attracted it to me, but dont get fooled by the low price the quality and feel of the flash itself is awsome. The ability to change the power level accordingly is a very usefull tool however if your batteries are weak then its rendered useless. The diffuser it comes with is sufficient if your shooting at a close range and indoors. The metering could be better but at this price range you cant ask for much. I would recommend this for all Lumix & Micro 4/3 cameras if you just need a filler flash but not if your going to use it daily. The only thing i didnt like about this is the wieght and the fact that it doesnt have a re-chargable battery pack, besides that its a thumbs up!Read full review
This is a very good MANUAL flash. 'Manual' means that only 'flare up' command can be received by flash from the camera. You have to adjust the strength manually. All other functionality is excellent. There is a feature: I can use maximum 1/250 sec exposure (Canon 650D). If I choose shorter exposure then I receive dark area in a bottom of picture. The shorter exposure, the bigger dark area. As I understand, it is a standard feature for such flashs. I don't knew it when I bought it.
I really like this flash. It is manual, but I see a lot of professionals using their flashes manually. I am having no problems with that. The build is fine, battery life is good and it works as advertised. I also received a newer model with hard buttons instead of rubber. It also has a jack for attaching a flash cord with cameras that can use that function. The battery compartment has been vastly improved also. I recommend this flash.
