Small and lightweight with high heat output

We have used two of these little dual fuel stoves for all our camp cooking for about 20 years. They are very robust and reliable and throw out a lot of heat compared to the butane types. Ours travel inside our billies making for a very compact stove and pot combo. You can use the Coleman Fuel, Shellite or unleaded petrol making it much more versatile than gas. One thing you do need to watch is that with a large pot on top they can be a bit unstable. So be careful if kids are around.

    Combusted on first use

Not sure if we just bought a dud, since friends of ours really like their Coleman, but this caught fire under the burner and at the side of the bottle on first use, and we needed to use our emergency fire extinguisher to put it out. It was scary. We checked for leaks, or for something we had done wrong, but couldn't find anything. We are too scared to try it again. Not fun.

  • Not for hikers

I love my Coleman stove. It's my second one. I use it for motorbike camping so fuel is always easy to get unlike most other stove which require harder to find fuel or canisters. It's far too heavy to hike with but for motorbike or car camping it's ideal. After a year of intense use I did replace the vapouriser to get a clean burn but replacement parts are available and easy to fit. It doesn't come with a manual so pro tip: when the plunger starts to get stiff, pop it out and lubricate it with oil. Once a year worked for me. When I first got my first one it stiffened up in a couple of days, I don't think they ship lubed so just do it first. Tough, reliable, simple.... But heavy.

  • Coleman Sportster II

I have been using one for the past 12 years with shellite fuel and just have bought a new one as the old one's o rings seals started to leak out fuel. i would recommend this fuel stove to anyone as it lasted me 12 happy long years of constant use with no problems just remember to use it with sheltie fuel not unleaded petrol as the petrol carbon will clog it up soon, no worries with sheltie !! Enjoy your coleman Sportster II stove people :-)

  • Great Stover

I have a number of other gas stoves which run on butane but this one is the best as fuel is available everywhere, and heat output is by far the best of the lot. Build quality is also great. This is a well built quality item that is easy to use and looks like it will give many years of dependable service. Would highly recommend this product to others. Price was also great and shipping was fast and free 👍👍👍

  • Seriously hot, and works in the cold :)

We've always used liquid fuel stoves (MSR usually) when we went walking. Now we use the ute for 'camping' and two of these have replaced my 50 year old Coleman liquid fuel 2 burner suitcase stove... These light very quickly and easily and produce more heat than any camping gas stove we've tried - and in the cold weather it just keeps going, rather than the LPG bottle freezing up! Venerable technology, but darn well implemented. No complaints. We cook on this using a Tefal 'cocoon' cookset - and the frypan is perfectly stable on it. On minimum it simmers nicely with a heat dispersing mat - otherwise the contact area with the flames is slightly too hot. Seems much better at simmer than the MSR whisperlite and also much hotter when on full. But it is not something I'd like in my pack! All steel and heavy in comparison, but for vehicle based 'camping' it is great.

  • Brilliant compact stove

Brilliant little single burner stove. Perfect addition to my camping gear to boil the kettle for lunch or add that little bit of extra cooking capacity for my dual-fuel, dual burner Coleman stove. Boils 2L of water in 9 minutes. Love it!

  • Great little stove!

Fantastic stove! High heat output, boils very quickly but will simmer on very low heat when required. Uses very little fuel. Stove is very stable and will support a bigger pot or frypan and also works great with small pots. Very happy with this stove. Running it on shellite fuel which burns very hot and clean. High quality and very well made. Read many reviews and these things last for years and parts are available when (or if) required. Highly recommended!
