Holds .22 caliber rim fire bullets

This is a nice little magazine for the rifle that was passed to me, without magazines. It holds the perfect amount of ammo for almost any situation that calls for less than 8 .22 caliber, rim fire bullets. It's easy to load, and flawlessly holds the bullets without dropping a single one, but yet is generous enough to feel the chamber of any rifle in the world that is capable of using this type of magazine.

    Not a perfect fit.

I bought this as a back up magazine for my 52 year old J.C. Higgins Model 42 (same as the Marlin Model 80). Although it looks exactly the same as the original clip, it fits much tighter and is difficult to remove. I'm not sure if it's the fault of the magazine or the rifle.

  • Perfect fit on an old gun

Wasn't sure if it would fit when I ordered it. I have a 50 year old Sears branded Marlin. Some reviews said a rivet had to be filed down. I had no issues, was a perfect fit. Other than the follower being plastic, it is very close to being factory OEM.

  • Mags for Glenfield 25

Only tested one of the two mags I received, but it seems to work well. However, sometimes you have to apply a little upward pressure on the magazine to get the rounds to feed at the right angle. Overall, a good buy. I'm not aware of anyone making aftermarket mags for these rifles so factory is the way to go.

  • Works well. Exact replacement.

Glad to have found a brand new part for such an old rifle. Looks and acts just like the original. I think for what it is it might be a little pricey.

  • Great Replacement or Additional Magazine

I found these magazines to be well made. They fit my Model 25 Glenfield/Marlin perfectly, which is nice because my pop got it for me when I was 14 back in the 70s, and I had to leave it 'home' in storage when I went to college. Didn't actually get it back until a few months ago, and sans magazine. Looking forward to giving it a good cleaning and putting a few rounds through it. Then I will probably give it to my nephews. (Probably need to just buy a couple more since I have 3 of them...) Anyway, these seem to be good magazines.

  • Happy to find these.

I purchased 2, 1 a couple years ago and never used, the other a couple weeks ago. Finally got to use them last week. One was perfect out of the box. The other I had to bend/pry the latch that keeps the mag in the gun. Not a big deal, but I did have to disassemble the rifle in order to remove it the first time I inserted it. After that, each worked great. Some customers say they have to file off something, but I didn't have to file anything. Using in a model 80, my father purchased about 70 years ago. Would not hesitate to purchase more if needed.

  • 7 round mag for J.C. Higgins .22

I bought these for a Sears J.C. Higgins .22. They are good quality and decent price. I read reviews where people filed down the rivet (pivot for mag release) on the magazine to make it fit. The rivet does stick out a bit too much; however, it is not a good idea to file away the head of a rivet. the magazine is a tight fit into the trigger/guard housing period. The housing is made of plastic and my solution was to carefully file away on the housing until the mag fit without binding and without filing away too much of the plastic housing. The final fit is good with a solid engagement of the mag catch. The mag spring is perhaps a bit strong. If you don't make a strong, smooth action with the bolt then the round may jam upon entry.

  • OEM Part by Marlin Works Perfectly

I bought it for a Sears Ranger 103.2 (the same rifle as the Model 80). It fits snugly and operates perfectly. The one sold with the rifle had a metal follower. Marlin changed it to a plastic follower with no loss of quality.

  • Needs tweakiing

The mags work fine. In first generation Mohawks the plastic on the back of the mags receiver portion needs to be trimmed away to be able to securely lock it in place. It's a two minute operation with a jackknife. On subsequent versions it probably works as is. My rifle is the first version and the minor adjustment solved my problem.
