Movie "MORPH'S" into ID4 near the ending.

The plot line strings you along for most of the movie, unsure who this southern talking charmer is on board the mother ship. The two or three main characters, if you want to include Morgan Freeman, Remind me of a futuristic castaways, with the secluded out in nowhere land repairing the drone ships. Not until almost the fourth quarter of the movie does the main character discover he is a clone and his memories are not his own. THIS being his biggest flaw, is used to his advantage to rescue his former wife and put a wall between his repair partner, who is pretty smoking herself, especially in the pool scene. Running into the humans left on Earth to fend for themselves, Morgan Freeman tries to convince Tom Cruise's character to join their fight and eventually does. Not until this part of the movie plot is it revealed that the mothership and drones are the real enemy and are stealing Earth's resources with the massive water collecting machines hovering over the oceans, sucking them dry. OKAY, this is where it gets weird and all of a sudden becomes Independence Day. The plot changes gears and the main characters lay out and implement a plan to take the wife up to the mother ship as hillbilly mom requests them do. The repair space pod is all of a sudden used in outer space for the first time, and the hibernation pod is brought into the alien craft, JUST THE EXACT SAME WAY AS ID4. They land on the main platform after traveling all the way into the massive ship, zipping by thousands of clones of Tom's character and the girl partner. The pod is opened and Morgan Freeman pops out to the dismay of "Mother". Just as in ID4, the two characters discuss whether to go through with their plan to detonate the bomb inside the compartment with Morgan. Which they do and save the day for Earth. Overall, I was focused on the plot for most of the movie and where it was going. UNTIL the morphing into ID4. It seems that story writers and screenplay editors could be a little more creative instead of stealing major scenes from other blockbuster movies. VERY DISSAPOINTED! Could have been a much better movie had they come up with new ways to kill aliens. My summation: How NOT to end a movie!

  • An overlooked Sci-Fi film worth seeing now.

Missed it when it first came out. Worth seeing now on the rebound. A Sci-Fi film that makes you think, but then again maybe it is deliberately misleading and puzzling. Raises a lot of questions about what is going on, and that is tantalizing in a good way. The three or four major actors are top notch and do a good job. Olga especially is surprising after having seen her as a villain in CENTURION.

  • Cruz's performance

We really enjoyed the visual beauty of the film and the story line - although it's a bit predictive, it is still very entertaining. Plan to enjoy watching it a few times. I often feel as though the majority of Cruz's characters are all very similar - I didn't think that as strongly regarding this movie, although I would really like to see him branch out and not be boxed into such atypical type roles.
