ReviewsLos Angeles Times - THE BABADOOK is a smart, darkly drawn modern-day horror movie of monsters, memories and mothers., The Times - It's surprisingly rare for a film to tap into the genuinely scary things about parenting., Wall Street Journal - A small film that packs a horribly big punch., New York Times - You will be scared. And also, perhaps even more scarily, moved.
Additional InformationAmelia (Essie Davis) is an Australian single mother haunted by memories of her late husband's tragic death six years ago. As the story opens, Amelia is raising her young son, Samuel (Noah Wiseman) a sweet-natured, but very troubled little boy. Nightly, Samuel grows convinced that monsters lurk beneath his bed and has even constructed homemade weapons, such as a miniature wooden catapult to fend off the invading enemies. The situation at home grows bizarre when Samuel asks his mum to read to him a strange storybook entitled 'The Babadook', an eerie, pop-up with charcoal illustrations of a demonic figure that announces itself by knocking at the door of a house six times.
