The clumsy title is especially strange because this an honestly good album that doesn't fit those negative expectations. There are almost certainly other singers who would have sounded better on "Whatever Happened to P.J. Proby?.
Additional InformationThe Belfast Soul Man re-records 16 of his songs with a like number of duet partners, including Michael Bublé and Bobby Womack.
Reviews3.5 stars out of 5 -- "DUETS is as cantankerous and eccentric as any of the man's other projects. Rather than just bring in a few glossy names to decorate his greatest hits, he digs up deep cuts from mostly overlooked albums."
A better album than some reviews suggest. Some implied it was an indulgence, but after 50 years of classic albums from Astral Weeks on, who would be so curmudgeonly as to deny him that?. I can't think of a better way to celebrate such a legacy. I think Joss Stone was the biggest surprise, as their duet is sublime.
