Reviews"...the card-carrying classic. Zappa's scabrous disembowelling of the hippy dream pitches caustic lyrics over contemporary folk-rock and pop styles....the album works brilliantly as a whole...", 5 Stars - Indispensable - "...a brilliant lampoon of flower-power so scathingly accurated he manages to prophesy the Kent State killings two years before they happened. Segues restlessly between pop, rock, doo-wop and musique concrete, all undercut by a vicious spoofing humour...", "Most of its songs poke fun at the commodification of pop counterculture....Despite the satire, it also works as one of the finest psych-rock albums of the period.", "...It Predicted Future Zappa Endeavors, Building a Groove-Fracturing Spazz-Rock Tradition...", Included in Q Magazine's "Best Psychedelic Albums of All Time."
a very good lp.frank zappa never turned on .just beer.its a psyche masterpeice.very rare as an orig, this lp beautifully digital remaster.it even has super rare inner which id never seen b4.this lp was a direct response to sgt pepper and stones on their satanic majesties.all 3 lps were released in june 1967.the height ashbury scene.its about going to h.a joining a band and everyone lived together.sort off communal living.being hospitable to your freinds and accomodating. each other
Always loved this album when I first bought in the sixties. It'd very strange and my son is totally baffled by it. A lot of references to the sixties and hippies will go over some peoples heads but persevere and you will learn to love it.
