A genius let down by average quality
I was a little dissapointed as the quality of the vinyl and recordings were not to the standard that I had hoped. The recordings range from poor to acceptable I suppose bearing in mind the age of some of the recordings it is to be expected, I just expected better for some reason. There was distortion on transients on the first album and also the vinyl was a bit warped. The 2nd and 3rd discs were a little better in both sound and quality. I think it unlikely I will play it very often as I have far better recordings. I think it should be made clear on the adverts that some of the recordings were old and had suspect quality and they would have been far better on 180gm vinly. I would only recommend this for hardened fans who want this to add to their collection but for a newcomer to Ray Charles there are far better offerings out there.
