never used anything else
I have used sadolin products for over 30 years. Yes it can be expensive but you can make it work out as good value. I use it for a summerhouse, windows and doors and garden benches. It is durable and easy to apply. Clearly the more coats used the darker the colour. I buy 2.5 ltres and decant into smaller paint cans. By inverting the 2.5 container there is no air and hence no film when you next need to use. Easy to clean and looks really good. Other products that are cheaper will blister and fade after 3 years. Then you have a lot of work to effectively start again, no need with Sadolin.

Expensive but worth it.
Don't confuse this with fence paint which is based on water and washes out within a year or two so you have to do the job again.Sadolin Extra Durable Woodstain is based on solvent and it's thcker, with a stronger colour than cheap fence paint. If your wood is dry and free of flaking paint or dust you'll probably get 5 years of good coverage and protection - less in direct sunlight with exposure to rain and more in dry shade. Some of the colours are similar: antique pine and redwood for example I've bought for the same woodwork depending on the best price for each because this woodstain is never cheap.
