  • Corgi major circus crane 1st version.

Large heavy toy with working jib and hook. The frame of the crane is fixed and will not rotate. So the vehicle has to used like a forklift truck when unloading lorries. I believe that the real version was used to erect the tent poles. The letters (Chipperfield ect.) on the sides of the vehicle are raised /cast on so this makes change of ownership difficult, really only affects the code 3 builders and not the collectors who will be happy that the lettering has not peeled off. Most of the crane version seem to have glidamatic spring suspension. The string cord can be replaced by removing a cover above the winding handle, bit of a fiddly job! Expensive when new and still commands a fair amount today, just make sure that the front bumper is not chipped with lifting things other than the plastic cages, the rear adjustment "claw" to to select the height of the boom is also prone to snapping off at the base. In all a very pleasing model and looks good pulling a couple of the circus cage trailers

  • Almost complete after 50 odd years

Given that this is a complicated model from the 1960s it is good to find that it had all its parts except for the hook. So well played with (no doubt), but also well looked after. A good model of Corgi Toys at their best.

  • Just the job

The good thing about this product is that it is made to scale which is important when restoring diecast vehicles. I cannot think of anything bad about the product.
