I wasn't at all sure what I was getting when I ordered this publication. I have found other books that I have purchased in the past too in-depth and while they are a great source of reference when I want to learn more, what I have really been looking for is a simple guide with some exercises for my horses which I can do at home. The title caught my eye - but then I thought it would probably be another book that you have to sit down and digest in order to actually try and find something that you could use - like most people who have horses as a hobby, the cost of having an instructor in the school with you prohibits that luxury to, in my case, once a month!! So, I was delighted to open up the book and find, on each page, an exercise, accompanied by a diagram and some easy to follow steps on how to ride that particular exercise. The exercises are divided into different areas for example, warming up, improving balance etc. There are also some in-hand exercises and exercises for the rider. And there, in the introduction, the thing I have been looking for - an example of a plan. So I can now plan my horses' schooling at the start of the week and know what I am going to do with them each day. It has become my bible and I don't ever go to the yard without it. Some days, of course, the plan gets scrapped - that's the thing with horses - they have other plans! But I love the book - it's brilliant. Now I don't amble down the menage each evening and think "Right, what shall I do today?".Read full review
This book is great as it gives tips and ideas and ways to handle exercises. It’s simple and easy to follow, good diagrams and room to make notes if you wanted to. I love it.
