Loved by a wide variety of birds

I bought a box of these a while back and all the birds loved them (as did the squirrels!) When they had almost run out, I went for a different brand/seller due to price. Now, though, I've come to realise that my choice was a bit of a false economy because the new variety I picked are just not getting eaten, so it seems they're not particularly enjoyable to the birds. Even the squirrels are choosing not to demolish the other ones, but when I put one of these "ultimate" suet balls out (I still have a few left) it disappears within half an hour. These "ultimate" balls are soft (unlike many other brands I've bought in the past) and they do disintegrate quite easily (which does mean some get broken during transit, especially as it's only a cardboard box for protection) but when that softness means they're easily accessible and edible by all the birds, I don't mind gathering up some bits from the bottom of the box and re-pressing them into ball shapes. My local woodpeckers and nuthatches are especially fond of these balls and they're currently ignoring the other ones I bought, so it looks like I'll be buying more of these soon. I only knocked off one star because they smell a bit and they get broken easily, which are minor inconveniences for me but not for the birds.

    Good product but inappropriate packaging.

The value and quality of the product was very good but the packaging was very minimal. The fat balls were in a large box and were free to move around inside. This resulted in a lot of damage to some of the fat balls. Whilst I support minimal packaging the product would have been in a much better condition if the box was smaller.

  • Was good value

Like a lot of the comments here high quality fat balls when they left the shop no doubt but there is issues with the packaging and you do get quite a few damaged but having said that when put them out for the birds it creates a lot of interest and they are enjoyed quite quickly by many different types of birds. I have a tray underneath my feeder to catch any bits that crumble of and that's where i put any damaged beyond repair balls so no waste. The price of these is very good and I have and will buy more. Quick up date after writing this I went to buy more and they have gone up £5.10p that's an increase of 36% from 2 weeks ago !!

  • Ultimate fat balls

These fat balls are of similar quality to the branded ones I normally purchase. Bought 12.5kg box which arrived with minimal breakage. Dont think I would risk the 25kg size as suspect more would be broken. Would purchase again unless price rises which would make me search for an alternative.

  • Great value but lots and lots of broken ones

Although I've not tried to feed these to the birds in the garden yet, they do seem similar to the high quality fat balls as sold in Pets At Home. The problem is that Pets At Home had decided to be greedy beyond belief and put the price of a tub of 50 up from £7.50 to £8.80, a whopping price hike of 17.3%. I walked out of there and will never go there for anything again. These fat balls come in a box, non-protected at all from rough handling, being thrown about by deliver drivers of from being stacked on top of. I had 97 whole ones left when I had them delivered, 23 broken ones to varying degrees and a load of pulverised ones that I now have to try to reconstitute into new balls. But the value of them is still undeniable at this price. I just wish that they would be better protected against breakages.

  • Good value.

i have purchased these fatballs before and they were, on this occasion of similar quality (the garden birds seem to enjoy them), compared to other fatballs, either online or retail,. they are also very good value. further plus point- - the packaging is adequate, just a simple cardboard-box, stuffed with brown paper. on each occasion i have found a few of the balls cracked with the crumbs, about a handful, on the bottom. i place them on an old saucer in the garden so they are not wasted. a decent product at the price.

  • Wish 5* was possible

The birds love the fat balls so I assume the quality is fine, and the price was good. My reservation is that the fat balls were loose in the box so there were a lot of breakages that will be a challenge to feed any way but on the ground thus attracting even more pigeons! Had there been a neutral rating I would have used that.

  • Yummy

Bought these fat ball for the first time , I have to say the quality was outstanding let alone the price !! all my birds love it . It’s great to feed the younger birds too because of its softness and easy to get into . So much so that I’ve just ordered another 4 boxes , not sure how long they will last this time …… maybe another might be imminent !

  • Excellent Allround!

Brilliant service, instant posting, the product itself looks great quality, the wild birds seem to love it which I’d say is the test! Thank You for a great product at a fantastic price!! One little advice though: 😉 could all suet balls Please be held together by crumpled up brown paper or anything that keeps them from being knocked about just in the box, that would be very much needed as quite a few had broken up which still gets eaten but ideally I’d prefer the balls! 😊

  • Two Wit Too Whoo

Apart from some of the fat balls that were broken, there was enough to fill the feeders. If they could be packed tighter things would be even better. Guess you have to except broken ones but not too many!!!!!!!!!
