This model was first introduced in 1996, and was a great improvement on the (excellent) previous model. it's even more compact, due to introduction of a new drive shaft system. Metering and flash modes are also improved. Weatherproofing gaskets enable this camera to be used outdoors in the rain, and its light weight make it the ideal go anywhere companion. In 1997 Buying cameras magazine gave this model an overall rating of 9/10, beating the Ricoh GR1 and the yashica T5! I've had loads of MJU II's through my hands. I can never resist leaving a bid here and there in the hope of getting another one to try out.. the're very addictive! Having bought quite a number of them I can also tell you what to look out for. they're generally very reliable so mechanically and electronically they're a fairly safe bet. The bodywork doesn't take kindly to knocks and bashes though. Check that the catch for the battery door is intact and that the door closes positively. Check the transparent film door window. These occasionaly become loose or detached. Have a look at the shutter release button. If its received a knock there may be a hairline crack across it. (probably looks worse than it actually is, i've never had one fall apart.. so far!) Check the camera body for hairline cracks, especially to the corners. I've had a few like that and they've all been silver ones!. Maybe a coincedence, maybe not. Find one in excellent condition and you've got a brilliant little all weather compact which is capable of superb results, and will hold it's own when tested against the Yashica T5, Ricoh GR1, Fuji Super Mini DL, etc. Oh and once you've got hold of one, you'll probably want a second one as well!Read full review
A tiny compact 35mm film camera that is weatherproof, equipped with a fast lens and is capable of taking superb images. A highly desirable model that is easy to use and small enough to have as a travel companion. Such fun! Even in 2022!
