Olympus OM2N is still THE camera. Wonderful mecanics keeps it working still after 40 yrs. I got a black one in mint cond. for coffe money.
Once I've received this camera I was very surprised by its compactness and light weight, having previously used (and still using) a Soviet Zenit 11 SLR. It is very intuitive to operate, especially in AUTO mode, turning the aperture ring to achieve the correct exposure or the EV dial. The lens mount is a pleasure to use moving on from the m42 screws I was used to - it takes far less time and feels smoother and more solid to change lenses. My camera came with the standard 50mm and 75-150mm zoom lens that had a built-in sun shade. Both are great to use and smooth to operate with definite click stops on the aperture ring. I love the solid build of the Olympus OM-2n, all of the dials are robust and cannot be operated unless cocked (e.g. shutter release won't press if film advance lever was not cocked, shutter speed dial won't turn to B unless 'B lock' button is pressed, etc.). In terms of monetary value, I bought mine for £80 + £7 postage and had to buy a Shoe 4 from a local photography shop for £10. In all, about a £100 for the camera, standard 50mm lens, 75-150mm zoom lens and the Olympus camera case. I am very pleased. One comment though: when changing film, always remember to set the correct film speed on the ASA dial! I used 3 rolls of B&W set at 400 which was correct for it, but then decided to pop in a colour and carried on shooting, so now I have 1.5 roll of colour film underexposed at 400 iso, when it needed 200 iso. Be careful!Read full review
