I bought this camcorder to enable me to be familiar with the feel of professional types. After buying a new battery, I managed to obtain good quality results for the VHS format. An interesting feature was the zoom function on the lens being coordinated with the angle of field of sound capture for the mounted stereo microphone; at the telephoto setting faint sounds could be recorded in detail. One distinct advantage that this old bulky design has over modern camcorders is that camera shake is reduced significantly so the end results are more impressive and movie like. Taking this camera out on my first assignment, I was mistaken for commercial cameraman and was told that I required a permit, after explaining that the filming was only for home use, I was allowed to continue shooting footage.

I like the picture stability of shoulder mounted cameras hate holding cameras in front of me you can`t keep the picture steady enough The M10 is now over 20 years old and the video resolution is poor compared to todays HD cameras but still acceptable, if you are satisfied with VHS video quality and have not thrown out your old VCR. It`s also very easy to transfer VHS and burn to DVD if you have a Video Card & Windows Movie Maker on your computor. Why do people scrap perfectly good technology for the latest gadgets. I still use audio cassettes, record players,CDs and Mini Disc and my trusty Panasonic NV-M10B. So if you find a working one cheap on Ebay with it`s mains unit, cables, etc.then go for it, I did and i just love it.
Its a decent machine, and despite the noise disturbance picked up while listening with headphones, when playback is done through a vcr player, the noise is not there. Its also a shame that this type of camcorder appears to be bouncing around the uk in frail attempts to make a few pounds out of it,instead of landing in the proud hands of a geniune person who knows how to use one properly.Even though its analogue, when the correct software is purchased, used, this camera is no differnt to a digital camcorder, just takes a little more time, and patience, which unfortunately, most camcorder owners nowadays dont have.I purchased it because of its size, and easy to hold and view capabilities. The battery situation is not easy to sort out,but can be done.I say no more, too many lazy souls out there.Moodychops..ex south african freelance cameraman.Read full review
Easy to use, the auto focus and digital zoom is excellent for this model. However there is mic handling effect with mic zoom. A real value for money.
a good buy.the price is right for such a good camcorder.though its not new it does all i want for me .its just too good.
I have bought an M10 because I used one when they first came out 20 years ago. What I liked about it even today with new camera's on the market is that it has a very firm base ie the operator's shoulder, no shake or shudder This camera allowed you to view what you were filming with one eye and to see what was going on around you with the other. Modern camera's are now smaller with many buttons which are also smaller whereas the M10 has buttons which are useable even in today's world.
