This v2 Tri-Elmar 49mm is my most used lens, especially on my travels. I use 28mm the most (80% of the time), 35mm sometimes (15%) and 50mm to pull in distant objects (5%). Images are spectacularly sharp across the image at all focal lengths and the only downside is corner dark vignetting at 28mm wide. It’s so good, I sold my 28mm f2 Summicron to help fund a new M10 and I don’t miss it. Having 3 lenses in 1 allows me to travel light on holidays without ever restricting composition. I use 35mm f2 Summicron or 50mm f1.4 Summilux for portraits etc but if you get the chance, and you can afford the ridiculous price, go for it- v2 better than 55mm v1! I recently had the lens serviced by Leica in Germany- well worth it, aperture ring now very crisp.

Although, not a continuous zoom...the step zoom is Fantastic!!! Sharpness is there in all three selections. You just have to remember what Frame Lines to use & don't bump the selector ring. You can shoot between settings, but viewing is a guess, because the frame lines have not snapped into place. Overall a Great Lens, even though it is now discontinued---

JUST RECEIVED THE LENS BUT ANTICIPATE THAT IT MAY BE USEFUL BECAUSE I WILL NOT HAVE TO CHANGE LENSES AS OFTEN. HOWEVER, IF THE APERTURE PROVES TOO SLOW, I MAY SELL THE LENS.
