  • Criminally over looked console

Considering this came out a year before the Sega Mega Drive and 3 years before the Super Nintendo it is amazing how not one does this little machine keep up with these console but at times surpasses them.

  • PC Engine - Core Grafx

This is the one to go for, playing japanese NTSC cards is a doddle, unlike the previous white edition this has AV out that works seemlessly with my TV. Its a very powerful hybrid 8/16 bit system, graphics are very colourful, the pad is good and my one has built in autofire which is useful because the predominant reason to buy a PC engine if you can't read any japanese is Shoot-em-ups and the system has them in bucket loads. If you really want to play all the games without collecting RetroTowers make an everdrive card for the machine, but believe me there is something arcane and magical about inserting the credit card sized HU-CARDS into the machine and watching it fire up. The machine to own for late 80's shooters. So say I: The beard of Sinclair
