  • TURBOEXPRESS- GOLD RATED HANDHELD OF THE RETRO AGE & FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

The TurboExpress is a handheld video game console, released by NEC Home Electronics in 1990. It is essentially a portable version of the TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine home console that came two to three years earlier. It was sold as the PC Engine GT (Game Tank)[citation needed] in Japan. 1.5 Million of these units were sold after the launch of the handheld. At the time the unit competed with Sega Game Gear, Nintendo Game Boy , & Atari Lynx. The unit was clearly underrated and is clear the BEST HANDHELD of the Retro. In today's AGE the Turboexpress & PC ENGINE GT have both regained popularity on the game scene due mainly to the fact that the unit is capable of playing games from both regions & the LCD can be upgraded to 3.5 " which matches in comparison with resolution & clarity with the portable Sony units. Also upgrades can be done to allow capability of playing games directly connected to a HDTV or older TV's with standard AV inputs. also a Turbografx controller can be connected to the unit with a simple upgraded by a TECH. Forever live the NEC TURBOEXPRESS . It can play all the TurboGrafx-16's HuCard games. It has a 66 mm (2.6 in.) screen, the same size as the original Game Boy, and can display 64 sprites at once, 16 per scanline, in up to 481 colors from a palette of 512.[citation needed] It has 8 kilobytes of RAM. The Turbo runs its HuC6280 CPU at 1.79 or 7.16 MHz.

  • NEC Turbo Express System! ~As Is + For Parts or Repair

A good advanced electronics project. Audio was very feint, backlight was working but no video. Have replaced some of the capacitors and have better audio volume now, have been waiting on better soldering equipment to continue the rest of the project. Hopefully it will be fully restored sooner than later! Still a wonderful piece of technology. I look forward to being able to afford a ピーシーエンジンエルティーeventually, but this is a good related technology in the meantime and certainly more affordable than a working one! $300 or so for a recapped one seems like a bargain to be honest, hoping my repairs continue smoothly.
