Ideal for ebay photos, and nothing but affection for it
Had Mavicas in various forms for years while on ebay, never failed me, just kept upgrading as long as they had floppy drive, and this is the latest and probably last, as this has range of basic 640x480 up to 1.6mb, standard size puts many on disc, the larger about only 8 due to capacity of standard floppy disc, but at least you can choose the quality you want to post. Ideal for ebay - take photos, put in computer and transfer to folder, then ready to use for listings, it just doesnt get any easier! Like I said, had many models in the past, I have other cameras, but this is custom made for my ebay work, and as I have 2 of them now will probably see me through to the end now, or until ebay make another rule that insists you use their cameras??? Could happen, they change everything else, and now duff buyers cant get negative feedback? Joke!
Have heard some stories that drives go duff on these, but can only presume thats down to mistreatment or ham-fisted use of the discs, so, like everything else, if you look after it, it should look after you. All the models ive had have never given any problems.
Physically a large bulky camera, but easily held firmly in one hand for me being the bloke at least, but not adverse to 2-handed operation either. Auto focusing and macro are superb, 10x zoom same, this camera probably ahead of the game once, but still has its place for a lot of tasks, and I know some dentists that still use them with the superb macro for close work.
Only fault (if any) is the rear screen LCD is 'proud' of the body - this model is illuminated to combat sun glare - which is a real need to get a protector fitted to prevent scratches or screen damage, but thats about it. Dont need to summarize, after reading this you either need one or you dont, but previous owners I know talk about them with affection, even if they, like me, have upgraded to nearly the 10mp level.Read full review
