  • A nice, late analogue Nikon body

I bought this F80 body solely to make some film comparisons with my Nikon D800. As an analogue photographer of several decades, having now used the D800 for five years, my experience is that in practical use, it exceeds the quality og medium format film and approaches or matches 5x4 film, both in terms of details and dynamic range. With practical use, I mean the type of pictures photographers make in the real world, not unusable tests made on super slow film for which there is little or no real use. But I wanted a camera body to do some 35mm comparisons, partly because I have limited experience with 35 mm film and partly to make the comparisons with the same lenses I use for digital. I was tempted to buy an F100, which seems to be the epitome of Nikon analog bodies, but decided that this F80 was more than sufficient for my limited purposes. Being all plastic, it feels light, but sturdy enough, and it’s surprisingly quiet. It’s not a F4 or F5 bulletproof brick, but I knew that when I bought it and I don’t need that.

  • Brilliant camera

Takes all types of nikon for lenses including the most modern. Smaller, cheaper and as capable as the much more expensive f100

  • f80 nice little camera

the image quality is down to the photographer i have not had a reel processed yet living in hope, i think the the battery cover could have been a bit more robust as it has to carry the full weight of the two batteries not strong enough in my opinion. rm
